Capecitabine (tradename Xeloda, Roche) is fluoropyrimidine
carbonate that is converted to 5-FU in vivo. It is used in the chemotherapy of
colon and breast cancers. It can be dosed based on the patient's body surface
area.
The standard dose is 1,250 mg per square meter body surface
area. This is divided into 2 doses, one taken in the morning and the second in
the evening.
