Overview :
The MIC-to-MBC ratio is the standard for expressing the
bactericidal potency of an antibiotic.
MIC is minimal inhibitory concentration, which is the lowest
concentration of an antibiotic that inhibits growth of > 99% of the bacteria
present.
MBC is the minimal bactericidal concentration, which is the
lowest concentration of an antibiotic that kills > 99.9% of the bacteria present in a
broth culture medium.
MIC-to-MBC ratio =
= (MIC) / (MBC)
